Wellness for the Rest of Us

Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all.
This pillar is for anyone who’s ever felt left out of mainstream wellness — too tired, too busy, too broken, too real.
Here, wellness isn’t about green juice or hustle culture.
It’s about care. Boundaries. Rest. It’s about showing up for yourself — even when your body won’t.

Pillar VI: Wellness for the Rest of Us

Wellness has become such a buzzword — glossy, unattainable, and often wrapped in privilege. That’s not what you’ll find here.

For me, wellness means managing my physical, spiritual, and mental health in conjunction with addiction, grief, fibromyalgia, and life in general - all while raising my family. It means figuring out what movement feels good when my body is in pain. It means skincare is not for aesthetics, but for comfort. It’s where I talk about the kind of self-care that starts with small, meaningful choices — like rest, hydration, joy, and boundaries.

In my wellness journey, I’ve pivoted to an emphasis and care about naps, snacks, and being kind to my body when it’s not at its best. This has meant learning how to rest without guilt. How to advocate for myself in a medical system that has minimized me, my diseases, and my experiences. And how to find community, my tribe, that support me in my wellness journey.

This pillar is for anyone who’s ever felt left out of mainstream wellness. Because you didn’t look the part. Or feel strong. Or have the energy. Or because life was happening so hard you got lost in the chaos, the motherhood, the daily grind.

Wellness is about finding what works for you, building healthy habits, and navigating wellness practices in a way that feels sustainable and empowering.  And it’s personal- yes, I said what I said!  Your wellness journey can, may, will, look different than mine, than Instagram's, than your partners. And that is precisely the point!

This is what wellness looks like for me:

  • Rest - listening to my body

  • Movement - moving myself in ways that feel good and work with my body

  • Advocacy - speaking up for myself in my wellness and healing journey

  • Community - finding my tribe and places where I feel good moving my body

This pillar reflects the ongoing work of learning to care for myself without shame. It’s not about transformation for the before-and-after photo. It’s about showing up — for my health, my heart, and my humanity. Whether it’s sharing a product that helps or talking through the emotional labor of chronic illness, this space is where wellness meets real life.
