I am thirty-six hours into my 30-day no-buy, and I already regret it.šŸ˜†

Not in a dramatic, throw-my-wallet-out-the-window kind of way… but in that quiet, itchy, dopamine-seeking way that tries to tell me, ā€œjust one more won’t hurt.ā€

Ā

But I’m not doing that.

Instead, I’m dating my collection.

Not adding to it.

Not chasing the next thing.

Ā

Just… sitting with what I already have.

Getting to know it again.

Falling back in love with it.

And today’s date?

A tea date.

Ā

Ā

Meet my Date: ROAN — Current Culture

Ā

Today I reached for Current CultureĀ by ROAN (Roots of a Nomad), a brand I genuinely admire—not just for the fragrances, but for the intention behind them.

Ā

Their entire concept is rooted in tea.

As a practice.

A pause.

A moment.

A way to connect.

Ā

They describe their fragrances as being designed for the modern-day nomad—because life itself is a journey. And whether we’re moving physically through the world or mentally through seasons of our lives, we’re always in motion.

Ā

But what I love most is this idea:

You can’t make any place feel like home until you’ve taken the time to appreciate the path that got you there.

Ā

And somehow… you can feel that in the scent.

Ā

Ā

Scent Notes vs. Real Life Experience

According to the brand, Current CultureĀ is:

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Bergamot zest

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  White ginger

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Matcha tea

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Soft musk

Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Salty ocean notes

Ā

And here’s the thing…

I get the ginger immediately.

That bright, zesty, almost electric opening—it hooked me. (I’m also having love affair with ginger notes.)

The citrus is there. The freshness is there.

And the saltiness? Absolutely.

Ā

But the matcha?

I miss her almost entirely.

And I wantedĀ to find her—because matcha is one of my favorite notes and one of my favorite drinks. But on my skin, with this fragrance, she stays quiet.

Until... the dry down.

We’re talking at least an hour on my skin— and then I get a hint, the slightest, herbal, powdery, remanence.

Ā

Ā

The Vibe (Because That’s What Actually Matters)

This isn’t a literal ocean scent to me.

It’s not sunscreen and sand and crashing waves.

It was developed with the California coastline in mind— and I feel that vastness.

It’s more like…

Standing somewhere wide open.

Wind moving through you.

Space to breathe.

There’s something about it that feels awakeĀ at first— that ginger + citrus brightness— and then it softens into something intimate.

Ā

Salty. Musky. Close.

Like the scent settles into your skin and says,ā€œokay… now we rest.ā€

Ā

A Very Sooo Human Moment

I’ll be honest—when I think about our ā€œcurrent cultureā€ in the literal sense… it can feel heavy.

We’re overstimulated. Disconnected. Scrolling more than living. Buying (hence my no buy 30-day reset).

And yes—there are parts of the world right now that feel really hard to hold.

Ā

But there are also moments of awe.

Like watching something like the Artemis II Orion mission and hearing real humans describe something biggerĀ than all of this noise.

Ā

Moments that remind you:

There is still wonder.

There is still connection.

There is still good.

And somehow… this fragrance holds both.

Ā Ā

This was a really good date.

And Current Culture absolutely earned another!
