Pillar IV: Motherhood in the Middle

I call Pillar IV: Motherhood in the Middle.
Where I’m caffeinated, moisturized, and one parenting decision away from a meltdown. Yep, that’s Pillar IV alright.
My kids are older now. The baby years are behind me, and I’m in the wild space between “Mom, I need you” and “Mom, please don’t talk to me in public.” - I once heard it described as “the jungle years”.
Being a mom to a teenager and a 10 year old is weird. They don’t need you the way they used to. One second I’m ready to take on the world with them, and the next they’re screaming and carrying on how they need more autonomy and I’m hiding in the bathroom reapplying eye cream like it’s a coping strategy (Which it is BTW)
Pillar IV is where I share the beauty and heartbreak of parenting tweens and teens — the letting go, the holding on, and the hilarious contradictions.
Parenting is a masterful dance of Learning ~ Adapting and Leading ~ Following and sometimes I’m dancing with two left feet, others I’m trying sooo hard to lead, that I mess up the choreography all together.
It’s not Pinterest-perfect parenting - follow your algorithm for that. It’s showing up even when they roll their eyes at you and the eye rolling is plentiful these days
Motherhood in the middle is identity shifts, loving hard, and where the magic still lives — it just shows up in subtler, more sacred ways, and I am here for all of it.
