Rose Fragrance Reimagined — The Glory of Roses

For someone who claims she isn’t a rose fragrance person, I seem to own—and love—a surprising number of rose perfumes. So clearly, something about this note keeps pulling me in.
Maybe it’s the contradiction that I'm drawn to.
Because rose, like the many variations of the flower itself, has no single identity.
And modern perfumery has fully leaned into that. What was once considered classic—sometimes even dated—has been completely reimagined.
Today’s rose can be green and sharp. Or creamy and gourmand. Skin-like and minimal. Moody and dark. Or sparkling, airy, and light.
Sometimes it leads. Sometimes it sits quietly in the background. And sometimes it doesn’t even reveal itself until hours into the dry down.
One thing is for certain—rose has officially broken up with its vintage reputation and stepped into an entirely new olfactory era.
These are some of the rose-forward (and rose-adjacent) fragrances I’ve been loving—from my own collection, and a few I’m still dreaming about.
🌹 From My Collection

Björk & Berries - Ros
floral, earthy, thorny
An homage to the Nordic rose—earthy, wild, and beautifully grounded. This is rose outdoors, carried on fresh air and wilderness. It opens with pink freesia and lavender, then softens into a musky rose layered with Ambroxan and orris butter.

warm, spicy, earthy
A warm, spicy vanilla fragrance with a quiet rose at its core. Not a traditional rose scent, but there’s a gentle floral thread woven through freesia and jasmine—subtle, but present.

chypre, jammy rose
A luminous Turkish rose balanced with carrot seed, patchouli, lily of the valley, and amber.
The dry down feels like sunlight resting on skin—soft, powdery, and quietly optimistic.

floral, fruity, musk
A floral gourmand with a jammy Damask rose at its heart. Creamy, slightly sugary, and most present in the dry down where it turns soft, powdery, and wrapped in vanilla. A youthful, modern spring rose.
fresh, citrus, rose
Soft, dewy, and lightly sweet. Rose centifolia meets sparkling citrus, peony, and freesia, creating something airy and sensual without ever feeling heavy.

Mischief Academy – The Cursed Apple
floral, fruity, rose
Fragrance done theatrically, that is The Cursed Apple. Part innocence, partly grown, this is romantic with an edge. Fruity, floral, and slightly waxy from a lipstick accord, giving it that almost illicit, wicked feeling.
This is your date-night rose.

soapy, fresh, rose
One of the most delicate rose fragrances I’ve experienced. A tea rose that feels clean, airy, and almost translucent—like a second skin. Musky, soft, and quietly beautiful.
Truly one of the most special fragrances in my entire collection.

gourmand, floral, fruity
A playful, lipstick-style rose. Powdery, waxy, and blended with juicy red fruits. Not rose-dominant, but undeniably flirty.
Perfect for a night out.
🌹 On My Radar

powdery, leather, rose
A striking contrast of rose and leather. Powdery iris meets rose centifolia, creating a refined, structured take on a rose-leather composition.
dark, modern, rose
Dark, opulent, and unapologetically rose-forward. Jammy Turkish rose layered with patchouli and musk—rich, complex, and full of presence.
woody, spicy, rose
Deep and intoxicating. A bold rose centifolia wrapped in spice and woods. Long-lasting, confident, and made for nighttime.
Orchid Lane – Rose 96’
smoky, woody, floral
Velvety, dark, and slightly smoldering. Raspberry and cherry add sweetness, while leather and coffee ground it. A slow reveal—seductive and deliberate.
Simone Andreoli - Rose of Dangerous Flamenco
Fiery and passionate like the dance it's named after, this is a Damask Rose and oud forward fragrance, blended with jammy dried fruits. It's dark, velvety, and smoldering with a smoky woods finish. This is a rose lovers fragrance, one who is not shy, and favors sensuality and passion.

sparkling, fruity, floral
Sparkling and celebratory. A champagne-like rose with blackberry sweetness and a soft powdery finish. Effervescent and joyful.
D’Orsay – Rose Blaze
powdery, amber, rose
If “burning desire” had a scent, this might be it. Fruity, slightly powdery, and warmed by tonka bean—creating a sensual, ambery rose.
IM : SOLE – Liquid Allure
fruity, floral, powdery
Clean, modern, and softly soapy. A rose wrapped in fruity and woody notes that leans into that effortless “clean girl” aesthetic—perfect for daytime.
🌹 Maybe I'm a rose girl after all?
Gone are the days of one-dimensional “granny” rose perfumes.
Today’s rose is layered. Adaptable. Unexpected. Modern rose scents are just as comfortable leading as they are supporting—shifting between roles depending on the composition, the mood, and even the person wearing it.
And just maybe, that’s why I keep reaching for it. Because I too am a little bit soft and sharp, sweet and grounded.
